From an early age it was clear that Dr. Eli would pursue a career in the medical field. His father was a dentist, his mother a surgical nurse. Dr. Eli’s commitment to delivering compassionate care was instilled in him by the example his parents set. Growing up in his father’s dental practice, dentistry was an obvious career choice. In 1987, Dr. Eli obtained his dental degree from Temple University.
In 1990, Dr. Eli enrolled in UCLA’s first class in Orofacial Pain Management. This was an ideal fit. This new specialty in dental medicine provided Dr. Eli with the opportunity to integrate his deep knowledge of dental medicine with his inventive spirit. After graduating from this ground-breaking program, Dr. Eli’s clinical experience at Loma Linda University and Medical Center, UCSD Department of Anesthesiology and Scripps Memorial Hospital Pain Center, solidified his understanding of chronic pain management.
In full-time practice for 30 years, Dr. Eli is appreciated by his many grateful patients. He treats all types of head, neck and jaw pain as well as Sleep Disordered Breathing. Recognized as a national leader for his expertise, Dr. Eli regularly consults with other leaders in the field of Orofacial Pain Management. Keynote Lecture:
The Power of an Authentic Personal Brand
There is very little that will be more impactful in your life than discovering who you really are and leading with it. Knowing your true self is the foundation of the relationship with your partner, your patients, your team and the community. This talk uncovers the real meaning of a personal brand so you can use it as a tool for leadership, and building trust and respect with others.
You will gain confidence by playing bigger in who you already are and transform into an authentic leader in dentistry.
Keynote Speaker:
Lani Grass of Wave of Women
Lani is a Career and Life Strategist, Coach and Speaker. She is the founder of waveofwomen.com and The Confidence Catalyst, First Time Speaker Series. She spends her time working with women on identifying their authenticity, how they want to show up in the world and then builds a path to self-actualizing. Lani is known for leadership coaching and her programs, Personal Brand Blueprint and Women of Influence in Dentistry.
Being a natural born introvert in a challenging childhood gifted Lani with the ability to read between the lines and deeply understand people. Having lost nearly everyone in her life years ago, she rebuilt her identity out of who she was at the core and her intention in life.
Lani now lives in Portland, Oregon, with her dentist husband and their daughter. They have been practice owners since 2019. Her burning desire is to use her mastery to help women recognize and play a bigger role in who they are, so they can grow more confident and create the life and career they love.

Course Description:
Achieving ideal aesthetics, especially with anterior implants, is one of the most difficult restorative challenges we face as clinicians. Success will only be achieved if all variables are addressed that can lead to compromised aesthetics and the clinician takes control of these variables. These include ideal implant placement, maintaining and nurturing soft tissue contours, provisionalization, and choice of materials for the abutment and overlying crown. Join Dr. Hornbrook as he discusses ways to overcome the most common compromises as he discusses the “Crown Down” philosophy when placing implants, fabricating custom transfer posts, aesthetic abutments focusing on the “H” abutment, cementable verses screw-retained crowns, and provisionalization. This is a very practical course designed for clinicians to take the knowledge presented and immediately apply it to their restorative practices.

September 24, 2022:
Join San Diego County Dental Foundation for ‘An Evening in Old Hollywood’ as we host our annual gala to raise funds for the Geis Dental Clinic at the Veterans Village of San Diego. The Geis Dental Clinic provides completely free comprehensive dental care to formerly homeless veterans currently residing at Veterans Village of San Diego.
COVID-19 Policy Update:
The risk of spreading COVID-19 is decreased when all parties are vaccinated. Vaccination, and wearing a mask, remains an important strategy to reduce transmission in large gatherings. We strongly encourage that everyone attending this year’s Gala have up-to-date vaccinations and boosters.
We recognize that COVID-19 regulations are a fluid situation and for that reason we have chosen to implement the following rules for the 2022 Gala. We trust our attendees to act responsibly.
If you indicated that you are vaccinated upon registration you will NOT be required to show proof of vaccination at the event.
Attendees who indicated they are not vaccinated upon registration will be contacted by our staff via email to self-report a negative COVID-19 test.
If you have been exposed to someone with COVID-19 within 7 days prior to Sept. 24th or are experiencing signs or symptoms of COVID-19, in consideration of others, please do not attend this event. We look forward to hosting our guests and doing our best to ensure a healthy environment for everyone.
