Providing reproducible success with oral appliance therapy for OSA and therefore profitable treatment is dependent on identifying the limiting variables prior to the start of treatment. Dr. Olmos will explain a systematic approach to insure success and one that relies heavily on finding the points of obstruction that are not currently identified by most treating dentists utilizing CBCT. This is a system of interdisciplinary collaboration between medical and dental fields for optimum patient care and one that highlights the dentist as the determinant of triage. Dr. Olmos will review his “system” and the technology available that allows doctors to triage disorders, diagnose and develop staged treatment plans for injuries (acute & chronic) of the TM joint, facial pain (typical & atypical),primary headaches and abnormal sleep. He will discuss all of the tool available to Dentists to enhance their ability to diagnose and treat. Dr. Steven Olmos has been in private practice for more than 30 years, with the last 25 years devoted to research and treatment of craniofacial pain and sleep-related breathing disorders. He obtained his DDS from the University of Southern California School of Dentistry and is Board Certified in both chronic pain and sleep breathing disorders by the American Board of Crainofacial Pain and American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine. Dr. Olmos is the founder of TMJ & Sleep Therapy Centres International, with over 60 licensed locations in seven countries dedicated exclusively to the diagnosis and treatment of craniofacial pain and sleep disorders. He is the immediate past president of the American Academy of Craniofacial Pain and continues to lecture and educate internationally.
