Welcome to our ultimate ‘Choose Your Own Adventure’ licensure day! Our Three CEs in a Day are back for 2026! Whether you need to renew your BLS or your DPA and IC certification, we have you covered. We know how important these classes are, and we are happy to offer these classes to our members at no cost! Select the course(s) you need and ensure your license remains up-to-date. Please note that the Dental Practice Act and Infection Control is a combined course.

Here is the class schedule for the day:

Infection Control: 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM

Dental Practice Act: 11:15 AM to 1:00 PM

BLS Renewal for Healthcare Providers: 1:45 PM to 5:45 PM

Dental Practice Act and Infection Control

This all-in-one course meets the requirements set forth by the Dental Board of California to renew a professional dental license. Each segment of this class provides the most up-to-date information in a dynamic, informative, and interesting presentation.

Please note that this course does NOT meet the 8-hour requirement for unlicensed dental professionals.

CALIFORNIA DENTAL PRACTICE ACT and Ethics: Where’s the Line, and Why?

This course reviews and updates the required DPA topics, regulations, and ethics, including the scope of practice, drug prescribing, licensure and qualifications, supervision of auxiliaries, professional conduct, mandated reporting, and consent. Codes and Principles of Ethics are reviewed. Examples of law violations, unprofessional conduct, and difficult legal challenges will be discussed.

Learning Objectives – Upon completion, the participant shall be able to:

  • Be familiar with the scope of regulations addressed in the DPA
  • Relate Dental Codes of Ethics to professional standards and rules.
  • Discuss how those regulations define dental practice limits
  • Understand how the California Dental Board enforces the DPA
  • Learn how to locate information and resources related to the DPA

Infection Control for License Renewal

Meet the Dental Board of California’s requirements for re-licensure and update your knowledge of the most important issues in clinical safety such as the fundamental changes in dental safety standards due to COVID-19. This class outlines the essential components of your infection prevention and control program, combining Standard and Transmission-based precautions. Confirm the most effective strategies and identify the weakest links in dental safety based on science and current CDC Guidelines and State regulations. Updates include strategies against COVID-19, other aerosol-transmitted diseases (ATDs), and future safety challenges.

Learning Objectives – Upon completion, the participant shall be able to:

  • Recognize and manage bloodborne, contact, droplet, and airborne diseases
  • Recognize and respond to all types of disease exposures with optimal effectiveness
  • Minimize the risk of transmitting diseases by optimizing safety strategies.
  • Meet CE requirements in CCR section 1005, the Dental Board of California Infection Control Regulations.

BLS Renewal for Healthcare Providers

General Information

The AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) Course is designed to provide healthcare professionals the ability to recognize many life-threatening emergencies, provide CPR for Adult, Child, and Infant, use an AED, and relieve choking. This course is intended for both certified or noncertified, licensed or nonlicensed healthcare professionals. The course can also be modified to meet workplace requirements.

Audience:

Individuals working in healthcare such as physicians, nurses, emergency medical technicians, paramedics, respiratory therapists, occupational and physical therapists, physician’s assistants, residents, medical or nursing students, medical or nursing assistants, and other allied health personnel.

SDCDS is an ADA CERP Recognized provider. ADA CERP is a service of the American Dental Association to assist dental professionals in identifying quality providers of continuing dental education. ADA CERP does not approve or endorse individual courses or instructors, nor does it imply acceptance of credit hours by boards of dentistry. SDCDS designates this activity for up to eight (8) continuing education credits.

Yes. A light breakfast and coffee will be available in the morning for the DPA/IC course. If you are taking the BLS course, lunch is included and starts at 1 PM.

The Dental Practice Act and Infection Control course must be taken together. However, you can choose to take DPA/IC, BLS, or both.
