Expand Your Clinical Skills with Coronal Polishing Certification
Coronal polishing is a valuable skill that allows dental assistants to remove plaque, stains, and soft deposits from the exposed surfaces of teeth using a rubber cup and polishing agent. In California, dental assistants who complete a Board-approved coronal polishing course and meet applicable requirements may perform this procedure under the supervision of a licensed dentist.
This certification is ideal for dental assistants looking to expand their clinical knowledge and develop additional skills that can be used in dental practice. Coronal polishing training provides participants with the education and hands-on experience needed to perform this procedure safely and effectively while meeting California Dental Board requirements.
Course Information
This California Dental Board-approved course is designed to provide dental assistants with the education and practical training required to obtain certification in coronal polishing.
Session 1 (Zoom) | July 14th, 7:30 PM – 9:30 PM
Didactic instruction covering the principles of coronal polishing, patient safety considerations, indications and contraindications, infection control concepts, and California regulations.
Session 2 (In Person) | July 18th, 3:00 PM – 9:00 PM
Hands-on clinical training where participants will practice coronal polishing techniques under instructor supervision and demonstrate competency. This session is held at the Children’s Dental Health Association clinic located at 1270 24th St, San Diego, CA 92102.
Prerequisites
Participants must submit documentation of the following prior to attending the course:
- Current CPR/BLS certification
- Completion of an approved 8-hour Infection Control course
These prerequisites are required to meet the California Dental Board’s certification requirements.
Certificate of Completion
Upon successful completion of the course and all required documentation, participants will receive a Coronal Polishing Certificate of Completion.
