Speakers:
Sussi Yamaguchi, DDS
Dr. Sussi Yamaguchi received her Bachelor of Sciences degree from UCSD and was an avid volunteer for the UCSD Student-Run Free Dental Clinics (FDC) as a pre-dental student. Shortly after completing her dental education at the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry in 2006, she returned to San Diego for the clinics and was appointed as the first Dental Fellow for the UCSD FDC. Currently, as the Clinical Director, she runs and partakes in the daily operations of 3 free dental clinics. As a mentor to the pre-dental students, her hope is to inspire and instill in them the importance of giving back to the community and making an impact on the underserved population.
Fluent in Japanese and Spanish, Dr. Sussi is a humanitarian mission junkie. She is frequently out and about combating dental disease locally and globally. For 8 years now, she has participated with the US Navy’s humanitarian missions onboard the U.S. Naval Hospital Mercy and Comfort Ships. Not only helping the people, but communicating and making friendships with them are what Dr. Sussi enjoys most.
In her spare time, Dr. Sussi enjoys the outdoors from surfing, swimming, backpacking, hiking, biking, playing tennis and climbing. She also loves to travel and learn about new cultures, meet people, eat, and play the guitar. She is always high off of life and looking for adventure.
