“This one day lecture presentation is designed to bring the health care practitioner up to speed on current HPV-oral cavity related topics, help describe and correctly triage lesions found during your head and neck examination, and provide insight to what you find clinically and how it relates to what the pathologists sees under the microscope.”
– Useful for dentists and staff to discover possible cancerous and precancerous lesions
– Useful for specialists on when a referral occurs how to triage the lesion
This lecture consists of a review and update of oral cancer and the relationship to the Human Papilloma Virus. The attendees will understand what to look for in an oral examination. When a lesion is found, the attendee will understand the protocol on how to treat or refer a lesion. Clinical pathologic correlations (what the clinician sees & what the pathologists sees, and how they relate) will be illustrated by select pathology topics and case examples.
1. The relationship and rationale for possible auxiliary testing of HPV in the oral cavity and oropharynx.
2. What to look for in a head and neck exam and how to triage a lesion found
3. Basic clinicopathologic correlation for diseases commonly seen in practice such as: desquamative, submucosal, and pediatric pathology.
