Richard J. Hagstrom, DDS, is a California-licensed general dentist with nearly four decades of clinical, cosmetic, and medico-legal experience. A graduate of the University of Southern California, Dr. Hagstrom earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology before completing his Doctor of Dental Surgery at the USC School of Dentistry. During dental school, he completed advanced residencies in cosmetic dentistry and myofascial pain and temporomandibular disorders, and was recognized with the USC Clinical Achievement Award for completing more clinical procedures than any other member of his graduating class.
Since 1987, Dr. Hagstrom has maintained a private dental practice in La Mesa and El Cajon, California, with a focus on cosmetic dentistry, occlusal rehabilitation, temporomandibular joint dysfunction, and comprehensive dental evaluation and therapy. He is a Fellow of the California Implant Institute and a Lifetime Qualified Member of the Crown Council. In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Hagstrom has extensive experience in workers’ compensation dentistry and medical-legal evaluations. He currently serves as a Qualified Medical Examiner in Dental Surgery for the State of California and performs peer reviews and evaluations nationwide.
Dr. Hagstrom is deeply committed to organized dentistry and service. He has served on the Board of Directors of the San Diego County Dental Society, acted as a California Dental Association Delegate, and participated in peer review and wellness committees. His humanitarian work includes leadership roles with AYUDA, Inc., and volunteer dental missions throughout Central America, the Caribbean, and underserved communities. Through professional and charitable initiatives, Dr. Hagstrom remains dedicated to advancing dental care, education, and patient advocacy.
